Gap Inc. | Gap 1969 Store, Soho NY
Timeline: 29 Days
Gap worked with Bishop Fixture + Millwork to manufacture the first 1969 Denim Store in Manhattan, NY. The store, located in the infamous fashion district of Soho, is the prototype for Gap 1969 stores and designed to elevate the brand’s image, increase customer engagement and above all…sell denim!
Gap's 1969 Soho store was fabricated and installed in just under 30 days and includes many custom engineered, one-of-a-kind fixtures. To add flexibility to the narrow store layout, a floating signage rail system and multi-tier maple boxes we’re developed. Meanwhile, interactivity was added through recessed Apple iPad stations in the Maple Veneer Cashwrap and a 10' LED-lit Denim Wall showcases loads of designer jeans.
This Maple Veneer Cashwrap with iPad work stations creates an interactive checkout for customers.
Beyond the Cashwrap, 3 Changing Rooms in a Flat Black Ash exterior and a Maple Veneer Clear Coated interior.

Along the wall, a custom engineered signage system is installed to showcase 1969 graphics & product with versatility and ease of use. Composed of 4 rails spanning 20' to 32' and supporting 6 interchangable sign frames, Gap staff can position and lock their branding from nearly wall to wall.
Center of store, two massive denim boxes were fitted and tongue & groove finished on-site to ensure there was no shipping damage to this one-of-a-kind finish. Bishop's install team completed the store in just 3 days to prepare for opening day.
