Verizon Wireless | Verizon Experience Flagship Store, Southlake, TX
Timeline: 10 Weeks
Gruskin Group and Bishop Fixture + Millwork partnered to develop the first "Verizon Experience" Flagship store. This store was the first of four expedited Verizon concepts designed by Gruskin and engineered, manufactured and installed by Bishop.
In 2009, these projects were recognized by the Retail Design Institute for “maintaining design integrity, quality of detail and functionality when a project is designed & produced within an impossible timeframe.”
- Retail Design Institute, the “Impossible Deadline” Projects 2009
Rapid Prototyping
Integral in meeting the deadline was Gruskin Group's innovative design & prototyping process. Bishop flew to New Jersey to engineer from Gruskin's "pink foam" prototypes, then generated drawings and built a virtual store in Solidworks. Finally, the store was manufactured and staged at Bishop to ensure a smooth installation, on time and budget.
"Gruskin Group's 'Old school’ design methods coupled with Bishop's ‘fast-track fabrication’ can turn the IMPOSSIBLE into the POSSIBLE and speed the concept to market in record time.” -RDI
*Bishop frequently works from napkin sketches and client collaboration under rushed deadlines, yet Bishop provides detailed drawing/drafting services for its clients whenever possible.
Fios TV Area
Curved Glass Display Back & 80” Plasma TV
The 5,000-Square-foot store is designed to engage customers with both Verizon Wireless and Communications technology as well as the VZ sales staff. Many of the fixtures, including the Fios TV, seamlessly intregrate this technology into the store environment using LED accent lighting and complimentary finishes.
Greeter Station
This Greeter Station is a mock prototype made of foam and cardboard. Due to the time crunch, our design team took measurements directly from the prototype for final production.
Greeter Station
The completed greeter station is made of nearly every material we offer, such as wood, metal, plexi, acrylic, laminate, corian, and glass.
Fixture Features:
Alarm system and tethered touch screens, lighting, power supply.
Installation was designed for simple “plug and play”.
Demo Zone
Customers can engage and learn using interactive stations while being guided by product-savvy sales staff.
Demo Zone
From inside the Demo Zone, sales staff can assist shoppers with product interaction via touch screen monitors. Custom made and ergonomically designed, each station is wired to the customer's screen so they can receive help while testing the product on their own.
Demo Zone
Challenge: Create the appearance of a floating halo over the Demo Zone.
Solution: The large white halo above the demo zone was made of cardboard and Masonite to limit the weight to just 70 lbs! At this weight the halo could be supported underneath by just two visible tubes on either side while being suspended from above by aircraft cable.
Point of Sale
Table tops storewide contained universal slots allowing technology such as computers/keyboards to be relocated with ease and allowing for exceptional flexibility & layout options.
